Serving Base Services and the Health and Wellness Center (HAWC), primary design challenges were to incorporate existing racquetball courts, wetland areas and maintain a contextual exterior relationship to the surrounding buildings and base architectural standards. A wide circulation corridor showcases the fitness functions and features clearstory windows for natural daylighting. An open stair midway accesses an indoor running track that encircles and overlooks the gymnasium, main corridor and lobby. Project received the 2005 ACC Honor Design Award for Design Excellence.
